I'm hoping to connect with someone who battles IBS, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis in addition to RA. I do not take big pharma drugs for osteoporosis, supplements only. I've been told that most of the RA treatments are not osteoporosis friendly. The soonest I could get an appointment with a rheumatologist who treats both RA and osteoporosis is May 30. Any suggestions for pain relief until then (I already take 50mg of Tramadol and 75mg of Voltaren 2x daily, that combo worked OK for OA pain… read more

Oh, I bet. I take Tramadol, 50mg every 6 hours. Honestly, it doesn't work for me and my RA dr wont increase it. Frustrating. Take care, be strong.

The first thing i would do is start researching the elimnation diet information. Sugar, gluten, dairy and other foods trigger inflamation which leads to more pain. Also, I add take a fish oil supplement and tumeric to your routine. The success of these two supplements in overwheming. I was just diagnosed with RA, and I am a former college athlete. I have IBS problems in addition to both types arthritis. When I stay away from sugar, processed food and gluten, I am 90% better. Im so sorry you are having to wait so long yo see a rheumatologists. Good luck to you and keep ya posted.

Sounds like you have it covered
Jane Ann. I take 500mg of Naproxen 2x per day. It seems to help most of the time along with 1mg of prednisone daily. Each appt is individual. It was a lot of questions about family illnesses, my past and current illnesses. Xrays blood test exam and then gives you meds and has you come back soon to see how u r responding.i go back every 3 months. That's my experience.

Hi Jane and welcome to the site. Sorry you have to wait more than another month to see a rheumatologist. I know how overwhelming chronic pain is and you're dealing with other conditions as well. I was diagnosed with RA in 2015 and I am taking methotrexate which my doctor feels has slowed down the progress of my rheumatoid disease. I have also been using medical cannabis oil with some THC in it which helps with the pain and allows me to get to sleep. I take Tylenol Arthritis which helps to take the edge off. I definitely have some form of irritable bowel too and have to use a prescribed medication when it flares up. I've been experimenting with anti-inflammatory diets and believe they have been helping. You'll get lots of support and advice from others on this site. It's a great place to ask questions and vent. It helps me so much to be in contact with others that truly understand what it is like to live with rheumatoid disease. I've added you to my team. Keep us posted on how you're doing.
