Fatigue Almost Everyday. Is This Normal?

A myRAteam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hello everyone. I just want to know if feeling fatigue most days is normal.? I know that before I started Methotraxate I was not feeling so fatigued. When I ask my RA doc if this is from RA or meds he said" it could be many things". I would love to know how others are doing and if they have fatigue too. Is being tired so often a concern or is this something I have to live with.? I take 6 MTX pills once a week. Pain and swelling is mild. Fatigue is the biggest issue at the moment.

RA it's self makes you tired because you never get a deep , restful sleep because of pain. Methotrexate suppresses your immune system and makes you tired and much more prone to get colds & other virus & infections. Taking folic acid every day will help & also try taking melatonin before bedtime,it will help you sleep good, it's a non prescription sleep aid & not addictive.

Fatigue is quite common. There are a lot of topics for that, and you can also check to the articles of this site, they re very supportive. From my experience, it will slowly or very slowly go away and the only thing you can do is rest and have patience. I guess, our body gets really tired while trying to fight this invisible enemy, or being forced to adjust to the drugs.. My positive input is it Will go away! It might take some time though.. Hugs

Fatigue is ongoing. I’ve been dealing with it for 19 years. Do too much one day and spend 3 days recuperating. Rule of thumb. Pace yourself works best. I sometimes take Relaxton sleep aide. Pain at nighttime can raise my blood pressure to high numbers. So now take BPmeds at bedtime. I find using a topical cream like aspercreme or biofreeze help me jump start my day.

I used methotrexate and it did help. I suffered no side affects.
