Painful Spots On Scalp

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

I have RA and Fibromyalgia. Has anyone experienced sensitivity on their scalp? Some days I have the most painful spots on my scalp when I touch them.. other days its my whole head. Some days ( very rare) no pain at all. I've mentioned it to my rheumotologist and my GP. They both look at me with a confused look but don't really comment on it. I am taking lyrics for nerve pain in other parts of my body but it doesn't touch this pain.

I do get itchy areas on my scalp too, I buy special shampoo but it doesn’t seem to do much. It comes and goes.

I do as well. Most days I say even my hair hurts. I’m on Lyrica and Topomax. I was on Neurontin but could not stand the side effects. I’m not sure that the Liyrica is working for me anymore as I’m beginning to have more and more nerve based symptoms.

I've never had that before but RA causes all kinds of weird stuff to happen to your body. It's probably is RA related. Doctors don't really know that much about all the effects of RA.

Hey becky.
I do have spots on my scalp that hurt. Sounds funny to say it, but it feels like my hair hurts! Like the hair has been pressed the wrong way or something.
I too have fibromyalgia. And take Lyrica. I have never mentioned to my dr as I find they just shrug and give you that look! Fibromyalgia is such a creative bummer for the body- I don’t believe the medical field has much of a clue about what it actually is. Then add RA on top and we are the banana split no physician can dissect!
I feel pretty frustrated over all of it as well!
