Members offered reassurance to someone questioning their RA diagnosis due to the absence of typical morning stiffness and swelling, with many explaining that seronegative RA is just as real as seropositive RA and that symptoms vary widely from person to person and even change over time in the same individual. Several members shared their own experiences with unpredictable patterns, including swelling that shifted from mornings to evenings, flares that affected joints asymmetrically, and periods of remission followed by sudden returns of symptoms, emphasizing the importance of working with a trusted rheumatologist who listens carefully and investigates all possibilities. A recurring theme was the need for accurate diagnosis through physical examination and symptom tracking, the value of practical relief strategies like Epsom salt baths and heat therapy, and the caution against prolonged antibiotic use without specialist guidance since other conditions like Lyme disease can mimic RA.

Morings are the worse. Once I begin moving around, it gets better.

I no longer test positive for RA. But, I am symptomatic. Dr explained there's a 25-30% group that has RA without testing positive for the markers. It's diagnosed based on symptions and physical exam.

Another note to mention: Other diseases can be misdiagnosed as RA. One for example is Lyme Disease.

I have had RA for 30+ years. After some aggressive treatment I was in remission for at least 20 of those years with no symptoms at all. Then I had a flare -up 10 years ago which was brought under control fairly easily. However, two years ago had another flare-up and have been trying to get it under control for some time. This disease is so unpredictable where during a flare-up one joint in your foot will swell and be in incredible pain and your other foot will be perfect. I was also told to do what ever you can not to let a flare up happen as you many not be able to get it under control.
