Members overwhelmingly agreed that warm, dry climates like those in Arizona and the Southwest desert regions bring noticeable relief from RA pain and stiffness, with many describing reduced morning stiffness, fewer flare-ups, and improved overall comfort compared to cold, humid, or barometrically unstable weather. Several members shared that barometric pressure changes, humidity, and cold temperatures significantly worsen their symptoms, leading some to become snowbirds or relocate permanently to warmer states, while a few noted that extreme heat or individual differences meant climate change made little difference for them. A recurring theme was that while warm, dry weather helps many manage daily pain and stiffness, RA remains unpredictable, and finding the right climate is deeply personal, requiring visits or trial periods to determine what works best for each individual's body.

I’m going to be the oddball. I get way more flareups and breathing problems in the warmer weather. I use gel ice packs constantly. We have a lot of grandchildren plus my husband and sons all play hockey..so I love the cold in the arena.

I live in upstate NY and truly believe when I go to southwest Florida for a couple weeks, I sleep better, wake up with no stiffness, have way more energy. Just feel sooooo much better when I am there. I go to the beach almost everyday I am there and I think it is the warm SUN that soaks in my body that makes my body feel RA free!
Also, not being at work, less stress and lots of relaxing is a bonus when I am at the beach!

I noticed I feel my best (little RA pain) in temperatures above 70 degrees F. That said, when the temps are below 60, then I know I have to take care to bundle up in layers, add slippers to my compression stocking feet, and even wear hand warmers while working around the house. Definitely get a hat and scarf out when the temps go below 40 and I have to go outside. So, I'm in agreement that environmental temperature can effect how you are feeling. I venture to Florida during winter months and head back to the northeast when Spring arrives. Enjoy your day everyone!
