Brain Fog?!? What The Heck?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

I have never ever ever had an issue knowing, remembering, connecting! Does this last as long as you take the meds? Anything to do about it? Is it here even if I STOP the meds? Feel like the fourth Stooge! Larry Moe Curly and Marie!

Members opened up about experiencing brain fog related to rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, medications, and pain, with many sharing that severe pain and lack of sleep seem to worsen memory and focus issues. Several members offered practical coping strategies including getting adequate sleep, taking CoQ10 supplements, using sticky notes for reminders, being gentle with yourself when words don't come easily, and simply laughing off mistakes with family and friends. A recurring theme was the shared frustration and humor around forgetting names, losing track of tasks mid-action, and the emotional relief that comes from knowing others truly understand this invisible and exhausting symptom.

I think brain fog is one of the hardest symptoms. I am on short term disability in part because of the fog. It’s awful! I even had my doctor check me for Alzheimer’s because I forget everything! My sweet family tries to understand it when I forget things but I know it’s hard for them. I even cut back on my pain medicine to see if it would help and it doesn’t. I’m in pain and can’t remember! Sticky notes were my friend but now I find them and have no idea what I was doing! That’s kinda funny but sad too!

I get the fog from the Fibromyalgia. I’m not sure u get it from Ra. It’s annoying that I want to throw up my hands and say I quit. I’m frustrated with the fog!!

Hate the brain fog! Had it a few days last week & could not focus or concentrate. Lack of sleep has a lot to do with it.

Had it also during the first months of the big general flare. It started to go away as i got better. I ve heard that antidepressants might help, but i haven't tried it. Good thing is that it went away after sone months, and since then it has sometimes come back, when i feel ra-tired, but not like that thing at the begining...
