Have anyone ever been misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia and had it turn out to be RA? I have. It was a hellish 2 years untreated, taking Lyrica I never needed to take. What a mess. Please share your story if you've experienced anything like this?

Members shared experiences of fibromyalgia misdiagnosis, with several describing the challenges of being seronegative for RA, which delayed proper treatment and allowed symptoms to worsen before clinical presentation could confirm the diagnosis. Many members described living with overlapping conditions, including RA, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, and other autoimmune diseases, sharing their complex medication regimens and the trial-and-error process of finding effective biologics like Cimzia, Enbrel, Zeljanz, and Otezla. A recurring theme was the importance of seeking second opinions, advocating for oneself when symptoms aren't taken seriously, and finding small joys and sources of support to cope with chronic pain and the frustration of navigating an often uncertain diagnostic journey.

I have both, along with Psoriatic arthritis, spinal stenosis, facets disease. Also Hidradenitis Supperativa, another nasty autoimmune skin disease. No fun, no life, tons of pain plus psoriasis, but that's pretty much under control from Otezla. I'm also on leuflonimide, Cymbalta, Zeljanz, prednisone, plus pain killers and topicals. Just had my right hip replaced 5 weeks ago due to avascular necrosis from prednisone use. Healing well, and such a relief from that mind numbing pain! Try to keep finding things to smile about. Some days easier than others! Thank gawd for my 2 dachshunds, they're real clowns! Lol! Anyway, what's your next move, or haven't your rheumy and you discussed that yet? Let us know, and I wish you lots of luck finding a treatment that works right away for you! Sincerely!

I am too sero-negative. I have had at least 3 flare ups. This last one was so painful & miserable I didn't go anywhere for quite a while. Finally had enough, went to rheummy Dr. Took all kinds of blood and still only showing as borderline inflammatory. Believe it awful. Totally convinced that they(dr's) really aren't sure what is going on.

@A myRAteam Member They ran blood work several times- problem is I'm sero-negative so unfortunately I ended up getting worse before they could make a proper diagnosis based on clinical presentation. It sucks! I responded extremely well to corticosteroids and went for a second opinion and thats when the light went on. I just wish my last rheummy would have paid closer attention to the symptoms so I could have started treatment sooner :/
