Arava is the brand name. The actual medication is Leflunomide. I was scared to take it at first, because I knew a lady who went to the Church where I work, that died and family blamed it on ARAVA, but I did not have any bad side effects from it.

Prefer Arava it works better for me. Methotrexate made me so sick, dizzy, upset stomach couldnt get out of bed for the 3 days. But no side effects with the Arava

I take it along with 5 mg prednisone - still do & for awhile, it worked pretty good for me. Then my platelet count kept going up and up - before hip replacement, it was more than double the normal high - Dr added Humira - every other week, but now every week!
