Has Anyone Tried Cannabis As A Treatment?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

I’m desperately trying to find solutions to my pain as soon as possible before graduating high school. I’ve tried a million different prescription medicines, a million different natural medicines, and countless diets. I’m starting to think that maybe cannabis is my only option left. Has anyone tried or known anyone who has tried any form of cannabis treatment? And if so what were your/their experiences?

Just remember that it helps with the symptoms but not the disease itself.

I have used cannabis for 36 years. I was recently switched to a biologic and it is helping. I use cannabis for pain, I was in a motorcycle accident when I was 18. It has kept me off of the hard pain meds, for that I am grateful, many of my friends are statistics. Keep searching for answers. When my pain got worse and I was suffering flu symptoms 6 out of 7 days I went to the RA doc and she put me on Enbrel. It seems to be helping! My flu symptoms have disappeared and I am feeling better.

I started taking CBD oil almost a month ago. I really do feel like it’s helped me a lot. I feel like my overall level of inflammation is down. It doesn’t “kill” pain for me, as I think along the lines of cannabis, THC is probably necessary for that, but I feel like I have less pain to start with due to less inflammation. It’s also helped my overall mood — whether it’s lessened my anxiety to calm me or I’m just happier because I feel better, I don’t know. Since I started taking it I’ve discontinued my anxiety meds and my anti-depressants and I’m taking fewer mg of methotrexate each week (shhhh... don’t tell my doctor! ;) Unfortunately it’s very expensive... but to me it’s been well worth it.

I tried medical marijuana once, in candy form. It relaxed me but didn't stop the symptoms. I still had pain & swelling and also flu like symptoms. I wouldn't recommend it as a sole treatment for RA. You might need to try biologics if nothing else is working. Biologics stop the symptoms before the happen.

Try CBD Hemp Oil. I vape it when my pain meds don't seem to be working. Usually when I'm running fever...so then even my skin hurts. CBD helps and does not make you high. It has anti inflammatory properties.
