Methotrexate Or Sulfasalazine...is Anyone On Either Of These Or Have You Tried Them? I’m Nervous After Reading All The Side Effects.

I was on Hydroxychloroquine, but it interfered with medication that is controlling my epilepsy so I had to stop taking it. In the meantime my RA has progressed and the docs say I need to get back on RA meds. They said either Sulfasalazine 500mg or Methotrexate 2.5 mg. I take Humira and don't notice side effects. I also take an Rx anti-inflammatory twice a day. I did have to try the Methotrexate for a couple of months to validate the side effects were horrible. I got to where I couldn't face taking it. I don't have much sympathy or support at home, and being miserable and sick just can't happen.

I agree with you - the side effects are scary! I was prescribed Methotrexate but I am not going to take it. Im on prednisone now but have been gaining so much weight I want to reduce that. I just ordered hemp seed oil and Im hoping it will help as many of my friends say it works really well and helps you sleep. Its natural and no THC in it so it doesn't make you high. If I can treat this in a more natural way Im all for it!

I stopped taking Methotrexate and started taking anti inflammation meds and cortisone. No side effects and feel great. Wishing you well xxx

I was on methotrexate, tried both orally and injections, but both made me feel sick. I was then switched to sulphasalzine and have been on it for years with no side affects and very few flare ups. I am so glad I switched,
