My wife is 27 and we are trying to have a baby. Her RA Dr told her she has to stay on plaquinel or her RA May cause a miscarriage. If she does stay on plaquinel what type of side affects, if any, are there and will it cause harm to the baby.
P.S. I had my 2nd child after 10 years with ra. All i took was aspirin during the pregnancy for pain and swelling. That was 37 years ago!
“Rheumatoid arthritis itself doesn't seem to harm the developing baby, even if RA is active during pregnancy. ... Although some women with RA may have a slight risk of miscarriage or low-birth-weight babies, the vast majority of women have normal pregnancies without complications.” Sep 27, 2017

Often pregnancy itself will cause a temporary remission of ra symtoms. Talk to an gyn/ob about medicine safety before getting pregnant.
Be blessed!
My rheumatologist said that planquil can actually decrease the risk of miscarriage. I have been skeptical of my medications but I think I am least worried about that one so far. I too am worried about pregnancy
Plaquenil is absolutely safe during pregnancy and is often the drug of choice to manage RA in pregnancy along with prednisone. You should not have any worries! She may go into remission in pregnancy and be able to decrease meds but most important is healthy mommy will bring healthy baby. I was terrified to be pregnant with RA but it was not a problem at all! Good luck falling pregnant ! Ps: avoid pain medications it can affect ovulation
