Pregnancy And RA?
Has anyone been pregnant after an RA diagnosis and how did you manage with flareups, medications etc?
Being diagnosed at an early age, I had both of my children with RA. At the time I was not on any medications...consult your rheumatologist and on-gym about that. But I never felt better! It was explained to me ( by a pathologist I worked for at the time) that during pregnancy hormones are released that loosen tendons or ligaments to help with birthing. This makes our joints "looser". I felt great until about 6 to 8 weeks post delivery when the hormones went back to normal. This was my experience.
About 6 weeks after giving birth to my second baby is when I was diagnosed. I could barely walk barely move. Didnt know what was going on.
However my 3rd and 4th I had preeclampsia, fatigue and diabetes, but so did my sisters who dont have ra. So wasn't sure if they were ever related.
Yes I felt wonderful when I was pregnant, I delivered in January, felt good for a while although very much fatigued, this was my fourth child and I was nursing. Little by little The aches and pains returned.
Thanks for the info. We are trying for baby number 2 and im having bad foot flareup and can barely walk. Doc did say a lot of pregnant women go into remission during pregnancy so hoping for that outcome if it happens!
lol! 😂❤️❤️
