I went to England 5 years ago from the US. I asked my doctor for a prednisone dose back. (Just in case I had a flare) Just make sure you get up and walk around and move around during the flight. Have medicine on hand
If you are fearing over doing yourself.... I would ask your Rheumy for a Depo-Medrol shot about one to two weeks before you go. .. DEPO-MEDROL is an anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid for intramuscular, intra-articular, soft tissue, or intralesional injection. It is available in three strengths: 20 mg/mL, 40 mg/mL, 80 mg/mL. I always get the max. The injections are a life saver for me when I have lots of walking or standing to do. . Also just follow the normal flying issues... Like drink loads of water and get up several times and walk down the isle so that you don't become stiff. If you are like me sitting with my feet just hanging down is always rather hard.. My feet swell so be thinking about that. Maybe a cool pack/ heat pack? Not sure where you are flying to... But when i flew from SF to Heathrow it was a 12 hour day!! ughhhh.... Good luck & welcome to the USA!!!
Ok thank you Kiri
Thank you Jan. Yes I've been putting off going cause of pain. Both my sons live in US so while I'm feeling a lot better thought I'd give it a go
You're better off asking your doctor. God bless.
