What Are Your RA Symptoms?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

One dr told me I had Lupus no RA. The second dr said I have RA, not Lupus. So confusing.

I have debilitating bouts of malaise and fatigue that put me in bed 1-2 weeks at a time..unable to even do basic things like shower. Literally feels like I'm dying. Along with feeling so bad I also have bad brain fog, panic attacks, diarrhea, muscle pain, fevers, butterfly face rash, night sweats, etc. Anyone else do this with RA? I don't have classic RA symptoms.

Members shared the confusing overlap between RA and lupus symptoms, with many experiencing extreme fatigue, widespread joint pain, brain fog, and morning stiffness that can put them in bed for days at a time. Several members described their diagnostic journeys, including multiple blood tests with varying results (positive ANA, anti-dsDNA, and rheumatoid factors), with some being told they have both conditions or a combination doctors informally call 'rupus,' while others with clear symptoms still tested negative and faced delays in getting a referral or diagnosis. A recurring theme was the importance of persistence in seeking answers, getting scans of affected joints, and recognizing that autoimmune conditions often coexist and share overlapping symptoms that can make diagnosis challenging.

sometimes people have both because both are autoimmune disorders.

It is possible that you have both maybe the doctors are correct but as far as symptoms go they are very simular for both diseases.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Diseases (aka RA). Symptoms: jaw pain, lower back pain, feet pain, hand pain, etc... mornings are most difficult because my body is heavy (stiff) and sore and my feet get shooting aches and pains as soon as they hit the floor. I recently started getting hip pain as well. I'm easily exhausted, have no desire to do anything or be around anyone. And i have difficulty concentrating.

No rash or skin irritation. Hope this helps.

I have extreme fatigue and my nights and days get mixed up. One reason I can't sleep is because rolling over can create horrendous pain and that wakes me up. Then the restless leg syndrom. Ahhhhhhh drives me bonkers so I have to get up. The pain consist of pain in the neck, shoulders, hands, lower back and hands. (Don't think there is much left to hurt). It just no fun....at all but by God's grace...I am retired. Thanj you Jesus.
