For several years now I have had severe drawing up of the tendons in my fingers or hands when I have tried using them in any sort of repetition such as driving, trying to file fingernails etc. I have to stop what I'm doing and physically bend them back or hyperextended them to get them to stop drawing. I've tried to res arch it but not much luck. Anyone else noticed this and what causes it? My RA dr only says drink more water can be caused by dehydration, but I practically live on water.
Yes, sometimes I can't straighten my fingers. They just lock up! I drink at least 100 oz of water/day. I use Voltaren gel on my hands when they start getting that way. It helps.
Look up 'Carpel Tunnel' don't know if that the correct spelling.
Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant which may help. I also have a medication for muscle spasms
@A myRAteam Member, I too, suggest the Voltaren cream. Your doctor can prescribe it. I use it on any joint that is bothering me. I'm sure it would help onnyour hands. Sure worth a try. With the hear we have been having it can cause that too. I'm not a doctor but we can have RA symptoms like this from dehydration not just because we don't drink enough water, but just from the intense heat. I hurt us different ways when it is real hot than I do when it is cold or moist. Not much answer to that but this cream we are talking about. Hope it helps. I live in Moore, OK if you just want to try some before asking the doctor for it.
