Cimzia

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone failed a couple tnf blockers ,like humira and enbrel, then had success with a third one? I know they say after failing at least 2 decreases the chances with a 3rd one, but has it worked for anyone?? I know you can build up antibodies to them. What about cimzia. Since it's pegylated, it's supposed to mask it from your immune system.

Members shared mixed experiences with Cimzia after failing other TNF blockers like Humira and Enbrel, with one member reporting excellent results over five years while others found it ineffective. Several members described switching to Orencia after exhausting TNF options, noting it can take three months or longer to see results, though experiences varied widely from complete relief to continued flares. A recurring theme was the frustrating trial-and-error process of finding effective RA treatment, the difficult balance between managing severe pain and concerns about long-term side effects from medications like prednisone, and the emotional toll of living with unpredictable symptoms.

I have been using Cimzia for almost 5 years now and it is absolutely great! The shot is designed for people that have arthritis....unlike the horrible spring loaded shots Ie humaria. I was originally on remicaid and had the infusions then switched to humara then to cimzia. I also have a life time copay assistance wtih cimzia. I love cimzia it has made me feel 100percent better!

@A myRAteam Member amen! I agree. Prednisone works for me too. I'm using it until, and if, the orencia kicks in.

@dorthea. Ugh! That's terrible about the mans elbow! It's a scary medicine, but at this point, it's the only thing helping me. I have a neighbor who was on prednisone for years, and she suffered some spinal compression fractures! Your damned if you do, and damned if you don't. This disease is awful!
