Members offered thoughtful guidance to someone newly diagnosed with RA and starting methotrexate, with the majority recommending taking it in the morning once the body adjusts, though several suggested Friday evenings initially to sleep through early side effects and rest over the weekend. Many members shared encouraging experiences of minimal or manageable side effects, with practical tips including taking probiotics for stomach issues, staying consistent with folic acid, and switching to injections if pills cause problems. A recurring theme was the importance of not letting fear of potential side effects take over, as everyone responds differently to medication, and many members emphasized patience in finding what works best for your own body.

Don't start fretting over possible side effects. Some people on here talk about how awful the side effects have been for just about every drug out there. Remember, everyone responds differently to the meds. You can get yourself psyched up for no reason. Try taking them at night if you think there might be a problem. I've taken them in the morning for 13 years and have never had any problem.

Are you doing pills or injections? I had pretty bad side affects with pills but much less with injection.

I just started methotrexate pills last month. I take them every Friday night at 7:00 and have absolutely no side effects at all.

@A myRAteam Member TB tests can show a false positive often or borderline so retest to make sure. I had a false positive the first time for that and valley fever.
