Members responded to a question about persistent cough by sharing their own experiences with chronic coughing, frequently linking it to medications like methotrexate and Actemra, with several noting concerns about potential lung complications including pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease. Many members offered practical advice, including checking medication side effects with a doctor or pharmacist, getting chest X-rays or CT scans to rule out serious conditions, trying deep breathing exercises, using humidifiers, and considering conditions like Sjogren's Syndrome as possible causes. A recurring theme was the importance of promptly reporting persistent coughs to rheumatologists or lung specialists, as members emphasized the need for caution given that autoimmune diseases and their treatments can increase vulnerability to respiratory issues.

Been on Actemra for a year, low pain level. Very tired always you just have to deal with it,All little outdoor walking helps when feeling tired.

This is why I joined this group. I cough and cough. Been on Actemra for a year and 7 months. It keeps me up at night. I really like Actemra, it works great for me....if I could just get help with this cough.

I had to have my BP medication changed because the one I was taking made me cough. This is a common side affect.

I also have a chronic dry unproductive cough. Docs first thought I had interstitial lung disease related to the RA, but CT was negative. Still have cough and I was recently diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome, a persistent cough is a common symptom of this. Do you suffer from dry mouth or eyes?
