It seems like I have more bad days instead of good days. I have been on steroids for 4 weeks and methotrexate for 4 weeks. Anyone else on this medication and making full progress?

Members offered reassurance to someone wondering why they weren't seeing full progress after four weeks on methotrexate and steroids, with the overwhelming consensus being that these medications typically take six weeks to several months to show real improvement. Several members shared their own timelines and treatment combinations, including switching from methotrexate pills to injections for better effectiveness, adding biologics when methotrexate alone wasn't enough, and using short courses of prednisone only during severe flares to manage swelling and pain. A recurring theme was the importance of patience during the early stages of treatment, staying in close communication with a rheumatologist to adjust medications as needed, and finding ways to manage daily pain and fatigue while continuing to work and live with RA.

I have for 8 weeks now. Now trying to taper Prednisone, but still some pain and swelling. Might need something added tot eh MTX. Apparently RA is managed in terms of month or week units...hard lesson for my to learn

I started on the metho pills and now on injections. My doc says some people really respond to injections and they are more effective.

If you've just been diagnosed and have just started meds, 4 weeks is not very long to get results. This is a strange disease, and it might take a while for you to get relief. For me, it was almost a year. Methotrexate with steroids and then finally a biologic.
Hang in there. The most important thing is to have a rheumy who will fight to get you out of pain and your disease under control
