Members shared their experiences managing GERD naturally and medically, with many emphasizing the importance of identifying and avoiding personal trigger foods like acidic items, caffeinated beverages, and processed foods. Several members described their medication journeys, including transitioning from Zantac to stronger options like Omeprazole or Nexium, with one member finding relief by eliminating soda and another cautioning about potential long-term risks of proton pump inhibitors. A recurring theme was the delicate balance between managing symptoms through diet and lifestyle changes versus relying on medications, with practical tips including avoiding lying down after eating, sleeping on the left side, using Gaviscon for immediate relief, and recognizing that what works can change over time as the condition evolves.

I also take omeprazole 40mg every morning because 2 zantac a day wasn't enough and the acid was making my throat swell

Have you use non Steroid anti inflammatories as a treatment. This can cause the symptoms you describe. You need to treat as acid reflux can cause irreversible damage.
