There is the right Medication just for you out there. It's just a matter of your Doctor finding the right Medication for you. Sometimes it's s long process, and for some it happens fast. When you have a lot of flares, and you are on the meds for a time, then it's time to move on to the next. There are so so many medications out for RA. There is no reason for you to suffer so. After 6 months if the medication isn't working, then it is most likely not going to help you much. Please talk with your Doctor about a plan for you. Ask questions, he should explain the process.

I'm sure there are meds that work for RA pain but they are all so dangerous but when the pain is that bad you have to do anything to keep it in check.
It's a scary disease because it affects everything in your body.

All I know we don't have a choice but to deal with the discomfort we feel. With a severe flare up you just have wait for meds to work and enjoy the moment you have.

It really helps if family members care about you and help you otherwise the stress makes RA worse. To me cancer is better because no pain daily for years and somedays death is better than suffering like some do.
Why the drs can't find a good safe med for pain is ridiculous.
I feel for any and all of you that have RA bad, I don't yet but have had a severe flare on while body. I was in so much pain, couldn't walk but had to. ER gave me a steroid shot and I'm 15 mins I was walking and pray everyday that don't ever happen.

So I know how bad days, weej a can be.

The Ebnbrel has helped to lessen the flares & I still have them, but not as bad or as long. I haven't found anything that takes the pain away completly. Sorry to tell you that, I've had it for about 10 years. Only been on the Enbrel for the last 3 when I changed doctors. It has helped more than anything else, but I still hurt everyday somewhere. Some days are better than others. I do take hydrocodone for the pain & that helps but I try not to take it too much. The heating pad has become my new best friend.

Everyone reacts differently to the different meds. I had horrible reactions to MTX and Enbrel. Both made me much worse. I am on Orencia now and it appears to be helping a little. It's not great, but it's better than nothing. The side effects are not fun, but if it's slowing the progression of the disease I'll put up with them. As far as pain, I'm in a flare now and the pain is awful. I'm just trying not to take the pain meds and must try to make myself comfortable and not push myself.

Since being diagnosed with RA last month, I've been taking methotrexate.
