If you have no idea what that means (and many still don't) google Wim Hof and you'll see tons of info. He uses breathing, exercise and cold water immersion to (well to do lots of things but for the purpose of those of us with RA) influence the immune system. Here is a link to a YouTube video of a testimonial from someone with RA who has used his method successfully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7YtQywTr3s&.... I don't know man I would check with my Rheumotologist about the cold. After cold I would need a chauffer to get home and a wheelchair. My doctor doesn't even like me in the cooler swimming pool
Someone I know swears by this method. Although, he doesn’t have RA, and I do. I’m skeptical, at best. I’d like to see some larger scientific studies, to be honest. I’m wary of anything that is touted as a panacea, and the Wim Hif method is often touted as a panacea for a variety of conditions.
Yes, the cold aspect isn't very inviting....
Just found this!?! I tried the Wim Hof method and am very impressed. The method allows you to start slow, modify the activities to fit your reality, and progress if it works for you!
I started with the breathing, feels really good. Started slow and built up.
I added the cold immersion. Just a cold shower really. But very invigorating! It’s short, so I didn’t note any increase in joint pain. You can also start slow and build up.
Unfortunately I’m working through some acute urgent issues and didn’t have the strength to continue. I plan to resume the Wim Hof exercises soon and hope for more benefit with regular use. (LOL, I have no financial or otherwise connection with Wim Hof).
Best wishes!
