Members rallied around someone struggling with uncontrolled pain and fatigue despite opioid use, with the overwhelming consensus being that persistent severe pain likely signals the current biologic medication isn't working well enough and needs to be changed or adjusted. Several members shared their own experiences with finding the right medication combination, emphasizing that it often takes months of trial and error, multiple drug adjustments, and sometimes adding medications like Cymbalta or Wellbutrin to address pain between joints and combat fatigue. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating firmly with doctors, questioning whether inflammation is truly controlled despite normal blood tests, and not settling for ongoing suffering when so many treatment options exist.

Ask your rheumy about the Vectra blood test. Your rheumy doesn't seem to be fighting to get you under control and out of pain. The Humira might be working but maybe something else would work better.

Hi Tonda. I was diagnosed withRA about 7 years ago. I started out on plaquenil and then he added methotroxate. Then suggested Humirawhich I have been on for 5 years now. Have gone off plaquenil...was affecting my vision. I just saw dr last week and asked again about pain. Said blood tests prove humira working and that humira isn't for pain. Says not concerned unless any of my joints swell (which they do on and off). Blood test showed I wasn't in a flare up either.
