Abatacept Allowed For Only 2 Years???

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Worcestershire

I have just had my first injection of abatacept, the nurse mentioned I can only be on it for 2 years, then I have to take a drug called forteo
my consultant and packaging didn't mention this, anyone else heard this?
Hoping I get no side effects and some relief 🙏

Never had bone problems...my doctor never mentioned bone problems as a side effects, and it was not listed as a side effect for Orencia or any other biologic that I am aware of.

Granted I am only 38, hoping I don't have bone problems in the future.

I took a break from biologics for awhile...on Humira now.

@A myRAteam Member so does Orencia cause bone problems then I wonder?? How did you get on with it?
@A myRAteam Member my dr also gave me that impression too. How are you getting on with it?
I seem to have had an improvement after 1 dose, I'm hoping it isn't just an ease in my flare 🙏

I was on Orencia from March 2011-January 2015 (the IV version)...no I haven't heard the the 2 year limit. My doc said when I started I would be on it indefinitely. Forteo is used for mainly osteoperosis I thought.
