Does anyone in the UK know if there are any benefits available if he should… read more

Members rallied around someone in the UK seeking benefits advice for her husband with RA who struggles with wrist damage and severe fatigue from farm work, with the strongest recommendation being to apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) immediately, emphasizing the importance of describing worst-day scenarios honestly and not downplaying symptoms like fatigue. Several members shared practical guidance on the application process, including documenting all adaptations made to daily life, understanding that PIP can open doors to additional benefits, exploring early retirement options if a work pension exists, and seeking help from Citizens Advice Bureau if needed. A recurring theme was the dual challenge of protecting joint health while navigating a benefits system that can feel discouraging, balanced by encouragement to advocate fiercely and pursue every available option for quality of life.

Thank you Cath I will have a look, he was given wrist splints and he uses those but it's also the fatigue he literally sleeps all the time ... He's 58 ...his employer is the farmer and there are no other staff so it's a case of if he can't do the work he's not fit for work so I'm not sure how to play that ... He has no work pension ... I just think is this his life now work and sleep? Not being a drama queen but I want more for him that this ! Thanks for your reply :)
