Who else is on Plaquenil? I know everyone is different just wondering what to expect. First day on today. Hoping it's better then the methotrexate.

Members shared their varied experiences with Plaquenil for rheumatoid arthritis, with most reporting minimal to no side effects but noting that results can take anywhere from several months to six months to become noticeable. Several members described taking Plaquenil alongside other medications like methotrexate, prednisone, or Xeljanz, with some finding that combination therapy worked better than Plaquenil alone. A recurring theme was patience and persistence, as many emphasized that while Plaquenil is generally well-tolerated, improvement often requires time, and some members eventually needed additional or stronger treatments to manage their symptoms effectively.

I am on Plaquinil. I had no side effects at all while on it. It did take 6 months before I started to see benefits. I am still on Plaquinil, but they have added Xeljanz as well. Xeljanz has worked better, but has side effects I did not experience on Plaquinil. Best of luck to you!!

I have only been on it for four months, and have so far seen no benefits, but I understand it can take a while to work. The side effects I have noticed are dizziness and small skin umps that itch like crazy.

I don't tolerate methotrexate that's why the switch to the plaquenil. So far I have seen no improvement other than the side effects that I had from the methotrexate are gone.

I am on methotrexate 25mg once a week on weekend Plasmoquin 1 every weekday. Also take celebre for inflammation. And when flares are bad I take 2 prednisone so far the side effects are minimum. Just very drowsy tired after tAking methotrexate. Take plasmoquin at night as it was giving me nasty headaches in the day. Weight gain with prednisone.

I have been on Plaquenil for two months with no improvement. I have until June 20th until I declare this a fail. Good luck. I hope it works for you. On the upside, I haven't had side effects with it.
