Has anyone has joint removal fusion with steel rods in their feet due to damaged joints?

My Dr said she could remove my severely damaged feet joints fuse them put in steel rods and stop this horrible pain. Anyone had this surgery? I keep getting stress fractures and my joints are shot.

I go Thursday, we'll see how it goes, then she's going to repair my Achilles tendon mess on same foot.
