Anyone else notice muscles and tendons popping and or crackling? They seem to bother me more than my joints. I actually dont have any problems with my joints. I am constantly finding myself stretching to find some kind of relief from the muscles and tendon stiffness and aches.

Members connected over the frustrating experience of muscles and tendons popping, crackling, and causing more discomfort than joint pain itself, with many describing sounds audible across a room and a constant need to stretch for relief. Several members shared strategies that have helped, including long stretches in hot showers, massage therapy, hot tub soaks (especially those with oxygenation systems), over-the-counter acetaminophen, and medications like hydroxychloroquine and Orencia injections. A recurring theme was the fear and fragility that comes with tendon inflammation, unexpected injuries from simple movements, and the reality that popping, cracking, and tendon damage are part of living with RA.

Constantly. Sometimes it feels better, sometimes worse. You can hear my knee pop from across the room. I get a new one in June. The RA invaded the bone so bad that they had to scrape the bone to slow it down. I have discovered my brother's hot tub does wonders for all of my pain. He has chronic pain and got a prescription for the hot tub which meant his insurance paid for most of it. His doesn't require chemicals, it uses an oxygenation system to keep the water clean. I may get one of my own some day. Right now I just go over to my Mom's house where he keeps it and get in. I sleep much better afterwards.

It happens to me lots. I guess it's just part of having RA. It's certainly is not pleasant. Hope you feel better.

It's just all part of the process you have to go through sadly

Me too. I hate being in a wheel chair

Yes. I've had this happening since before my RA diagnosis. I actually went to school to be a massage therapist because I had so much muscle pain myself that I knew what people were dealing with and wanted to help them! Long stretches for each muscle group helps, especially if you can do them in a hot shower. Massages, do, too!
