Has anyone ever tried physical therapy for back pain or yoga? I was thinking about trying yoga at home to start until I can make arrangements for my mri and pt. Can anyone help me with stretches or moves to start for my back (lower)? Thank u.
I did yoga 3 times a week for 2 years, even when I was pregnant. I haven't done it sense I was diagnosed, but I saw a couple of ladies improve over time. I don't know about pilates--it's more core work--but in yoga, you will receive benefits even if you only go as far as you can in a stretch. You will slowly see improvement in balance, and skilled instructors can help a great deal. There is no stress. You DO need to find the right type of yoga. A Hatha based yoga is calm, slow, breathing focused and meditative. This is the kind I did. Stay away from the hot yoga types, etc.
I did a couple of rounds of PT. Back pain is often related to core strength (or lack thereof). My physiatrist recommended vitamin D3 and melatonin for bedtime and that has helped WONDERS!
I love the water! There is an entrance ramp into the water with a railing that is wonderful. I try to attend a gentle range of motion water class a few times weekly. I would recommend gentle yoga especially with our joints.
Pool therapy is best. Your arent as likely to make situation worse. It improves mobility also.
Water is the best for me
