What does remission look like for patients with fibro? With RA? Is it even possible? Have any of you experienced a "remission"? How long did it last? What caused it?

Members shared inspiring stories about achieving remission from rheumatoid arthritis, with some experiencing periods lasting from one year to twenty years, often characterized by normal labs, minimal swelling, and little to no active disease, though many still manage lingering pain from past joint damage. Several members credited specific medications like Actemra and Humira for helping them reach remission, while others found success through dietary changes including the Mediterranean diet, autoimmune paleo protocol, and natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric and fish oil. A recurring theme was that remission looks different for everyone, with some members questioning whether occasional pain still counts as remission, but the overwhelming sentiment was one of hope, gratitude, and encouragement that remission is indeed possible.

I've been, mostly, in remission for 20 years. Labs are fine, no fevers, hardly any days with warm, red, swollen joints. Remembering that RA is an autoimmune disease, it's not currently attacking my body. I take pain meds and an occasional surgery to combat the massive damage that RA did to my body back when it was active.

I am in remission. Humara did nothing for me. I am on Actemra. Love it. No side effects at all I am off Methotrexate completely and prednisone I had neck pain and went to physical therapy. They did dry needle therapy and exercises. Did wonders for me. Fortunate to have wonderful Drs in Atlanta, Ga

I've experienced remissions as long as a year- normal labs, no disease activity, no meds.

It is so wonderful to hear the word remission! There is so much research being done! My doc says that all the damage that RA has already been done to many of us, will be a thing of the past, keep on!!!!
