Lab Work With RA

A myRAteam Member asked a question πŸ’

Can anyone tell me if you have struggled with labs looking like a train wreck? Like magnesium and potassium levels dropping and really high WBC count? I have been on methotrexate for 6 wks and my rhemotologist took me off because i was starting to get a cold. Have only been off a week and wbc count is up again already?

WBC can be up from disease activity.
I would trust that unless the doc shows concern over something, it's just normal for you.

For myself my labs are always all over liver enzymes high BUN WBC elevated. My meds and routine change each time I have blood work done. Take Tylenol don't take Tylenol..... increase decrease mg for prescription. I do agree Prednisone isn't good for us at all ........ Then you start to have issues with bone density..... Have you had a dexa scan?
I hope you can find something that works for you.
I do acupuncture it has helped me with out all the side effects like the medication has πŸ™Œ.

I was on Methotrexate injections, I took myself off of it because I was sick all last spring and summer. My immune system really sucked! I caught everything. My W.B.C. was always elevated. It is back to normal now. I just took the Vectra test to track where I am at I am Moderate right now. Which means my Rheum. will not add any meds at this time. He has not seen me since I just stopped my Methotrexate. We will see how I am in another 2 months. Best Wishes!
