What exams should your doctor order? I haven't had any other testing other than bloodwork. Part of my daily anxiety is worrying about RA hurting other organs.

Members responded to concerns about RA affecting other organs and what testing doctors should order, with many sharing that their rheumatologists routinely monitor kidney and liver function through bloodwork, perform X-rays of hands every few years to track joint damage, and order bone density scans annually. Several members described experiencing foot pain as a common RA symptom due to the many joints in feet, though distinguishing between RA and osteoarthritis can be challenging without a doctor's assessment, with some members having both conditions in different areas. A recurring theme was reassurance not to let anxiety take over, trusting that doctors will order appropriate tests over time, and knowing that heart health is also monitored as RA can increase cardiac risk.

Jeanne do not worried they will do the test in time. I have blood work every time I go and have bone scan once a year and my RA dr orders those test and my medical doc do mamo and anything else. DO NOT WORRY it dose not help

My doctor does x-Ray of my hands every 2 years to look at progression of damage. She also does the test for bone strength especially when I broke ribs after a fall 2 January in a row! My bones are fine, must have been a direct hit when I fell.
