Has anyone ever had severe tailbone pain w/ their RA?

My 19 yr old daughter has RA & has had terrible pain in her tailbone for a few days now. She was recently diagnosed and has started plaquenil. Advil and Aleve have done nothing. She finally took a steroid today b/c her pain is so bad. But she hates taking them b/c they make her gain weight.

From what I have researched, RA can cause pain just about anywhere there are joints. I've had issues with muscle pain as well. Everybody gets it differently it seems, which I find frustrating. That's what I love about this app that we can all compare notes. :)

The first few years I went downhill fast, the pain and stiffness was so bad I was bedridden for part of the time. I thought I would never be the same and would just get worse. I tried many different medications imuran, methotrexate and others. Steroids helped me, I had a high dose to start and weaned off them shortly after. I found I didn't have many side effects. As with many of the medications you just have look if the benefits outweigh the risks. Once they found something that worked for me, it was like getting a new lease on life. I got a full time job again which helped get my confidence back. Also I would recommend your daughter talk to someone about what is happening to her. I wish someone would have told be to do the same because since getting diagnosed I have been battling depression everyday. I hope my rambling helps you. If I can help at all please feel free to ask. :)

Yes! For the past six months! Makes it hard to sit or lay down a lot of the times. Aleve, heating pads, and hot baths are the only thing that seems to dim the pain. My rheumy didn’t even think it could be related to the RA and blew me off. But I know that’s what it’s from because Prednisone helps it.

I noticed that alot of people are on steroids. I had 26 steroid shots in my spine they didnt help and I gained alot of weight. I am on plaquenil and methotrexate injectable. These meds are to put my RA and AS and Sjogrens in remission and they do help my pain.
