It's so hard to know what to attribute to RA. Everything that comes along now I wonder if it's from this horrible disease. I'm having alot of dental issues and gum swelling. Anyone else experience this? I have an appointment coming up with a dentist but curious if this is always going to be a problem with flares.
My dentist recommended that I chew Spry gum all day. The xylitol in it will help with the dental problems. I also use xylitol in place of sugar. If you get very sensitive teeth put just a very small drop of Essential Clove oil on you tooth brush and put it on the sentitive area. It worked wonders, but it will have a strong burning sensation if you use too much of it so be careful. Drink water with your meals.
Make sure you tell your dentist that you have RA, and the meds you are on. ๐
I have had at least 4 teeth abcess due to ra. My dentist has been a big help when the teeth issues come up.
My gums have been really swollen lately and my teeth seem to getting soft. I don't know if it is from all of the meds or part of the disease process. I hate going to the dentist because they never seem to understand how painful it is to hold your mouth open in addition to the painful gums etc. Let me know what your dentist says. good luck!
