I’ve been on Xeljanz XR since mid 2018. It’s been a god send for me. No side affects at all.
Acupuncture really does help even more than physical therapy in my experience.
I was on methotrexate, then Cimzia. All of these drugs have potential side affects so its all a game of chance. If the pain is not tolerable or getting better then why continue with something that is no longer working? That’s my opinion. I would definitely try massages and maybe physical therapy? Set a time frame, then talk to your doctor. The goal of meds is to prevent deformity.

Unless your bloodwork is showing that you need a med change, stick with what is working, until it doesn't. That is my personal experience. We all react differently to the medications we take for RA. I failed several before Xeljanz and XeljanzXR. I have had no side effects. Others on the site find Humira to be their working med.
As for that subborn joint, if it is just stiff, try massaging in some Arnicare or lavender cream. If it is painful, you may want to try some Dragon numbing gel.
I hope this helps.
